Disc Repair Economics: Leasing vs. Purchasing
By CD Repairman
Before you buy, ask yourself these questions:
- Am I ready to pay $500 or more for a CD Cleaning Machine that may or may not work properly?
- Am I prepared to shoulder 100% of the maintenance cost?
- Do I know if the vendor will even service my machine?
- If they will service my machine, how long does it take?
- Do they attempt to diagnose the problem, or send out a new one immediately?
- How many months does the warranty last?
- HOW MUCH IS THIS REALLY GOING TO COST OUR LIBRARY?
Consider leasing your disc repair machine. CD Repairman's Fix-a-Disc program, for example, would cost you $1 a day to lease, giving you a reliable state-of-the-art machine capable of cleaning all major formats, at a fraction of the cost of ownership.
By taking ownership out of the equation:
- Your up-front costs vanish
- Because the vendor maintains your machine, your long-term costs vanish
Do the math: If you cleaned 250 DVDs or Game Discs (assume each disc was valued at $20, and many games cost much more), that's $5,000 worth of merchandise returned to the shelves.
