Clean and Repair Your Library's CDs, DVDs and Game Discs--With a System that Can Pay or Itself

At Mashpee Public Library (Mashpee, MA), we had been considering purchasing a disc cleaning machine to maintain the library's disc collection and investigated several vendors. We liked the fact that Azuradisc's Dual Disc II could clean 2 discs at once. Our Friends of the Library group provided the funding for the machine, since the library didn't have money in our operating budget. The equipment is easy to use and the results are amazing. We've trained a group of volunteers to do the cleaning and we've all been impressed at how shiny and scratch-free the discs come out. Most discs need only the 30 second cycle to bring them back to a like new condition.

Prior to purchasing the Azuradisc machine, we sent scratched discs to a commercial vendor for repair. Although they did a nice job, the costs of repair mounted up to $300-400 a month. With the Dual Disc II, not only are we able to repair scratched discs, but we are also able to clean our entire disc collection. Since patrons don't always mention that a disc skips or freezes, we had put things back in circulation not realizing that they needed cleaning or repair. Cleaning everything will insure patrons are able to play without problems whatever they check out from our collection. We are moving into a brand new building this spring and wanted to have the collection in pristine condition. Our patrons will surely notice the difference in our collection's performance thanks to using Azuradisc's Dual Disc II.

Our Library Friends hope to be able to offer disc repair services to the community for a small fee. Money raised from this service will hopefully offset the cost of the machine and future supplies.
