Creating a Central Knowledge Center for a Government Agency
LAC Group
LAC Group was engaged by a government agency to create a single corporate information resource ("knowledge center") from disparate and varied research and information management systems. The project required LAC Group staff to re-establish the Library Services, which had been closed down for three months, develop new procedures and policies, and staff the library function to be operational immediately.
LAC Group provided total library services: acquisitions, collection development, collection maintenance, serials control, circulation, reference, and providing and evaluating electronic databases and serials. In addition to staffing a full-service reference desk during business hours, LAC Group Reference Librarians provided virtual service and an orientation to agency patrons as well as the public; held open houses; participated in the agency’s knowledge fairs; and provided one-on-one and group training sessions.
LAC Group also also provided in-depth research for the agency’s HQ and field staff on specialized developmental queries such as Economic Growth/Agriculture Development, Democracy and Governance, Humanitarian Assistance, Human Capacity Development, Health Populations and Nutrition and Environmental and Natural Resources.
