Libraries change lives. But it's mostly by accident. Suppose we got serious about assisting people through predictable life changes? For instance, from 0-4, human beings are learning language and story; by 4th grade, the focus shifts to reading for pleasure (and from pleasure, proficiency); the YA years are about the deeper stirrings of sexuality and identity; from high school through college, we look for support for formal education; afterwards we look for a job; we have children; we retool job skills; we deal with health issues; we deal with end of life. Libraries have always supported people in these periods. But we don't do so systematically, with prepared scripts that elevate an information transaction to a moment of profound personal discovery.

From this webinar, you will learn:

• To identify the key human life phases;

• To understand the essential needs of each phase; and

• To begin to develop a consistent approach to delivering more powerful service.

Audience: anyone working in the library.
