Workplace Politics: How You Can Still Make a Difference

Workplace politics exist everywhere. A library’s workplace politics involves inner workings of individual roles, divisional roles, and the role of library values. A library’s value holds to intellectual freedom and information literacy, but library users or even library workers do not apply it or combat it. Library roles may feel or be rigid where individuals may not feel like they can cross-train or contribute to other areas. An overview of workplace politics in the library will be covered as well as developing skills to look past the politics and thrive in your individual role.

From this webinar, you will learn:

· The nuances of library politics and effects on workers and patrons

· How to redefine roles and not let politics rule your work life

· Develop strategies of communication and collaboration to create a team-oriented environment
